In my Significant Writing Project: FINAL Draft of Significant Writing Project I was able to use sources as evidence, as well as select and integrate quotes into my writing piece. One example that I have pulled from my Significant Writing piece is:

Having a nonjudgmental attitude with your patients as a hygienist is key. Many patients come into the office very self conscious about their smile. Many people tend to feel uncomfortable when someone is looking in their mouth, but being judged on top of that can make the experience a whole lot worse. Yo-Yo Ma states “ Yet we are also aware that wise and balanced judgment results from integrating the critical and empathetic, taking emotions as well as reason into account.” Making sure that I am not judging my patients can help to make them feel a lot more comfortable and confident while the the dental chair.

I think this example really demonstrates my ability to integrate some else’s opinion with mine. This quote provides evidence to what I am saying and clearly back it all up. I feel as though in the past I have not been able to do this properly. Many times I would not pick the correct quote to support what I am trying to say and the entire paragraph would not flow together. I would also tend to not voice my own opinion and just state the common facts of another person’s opinion and their quotes only. I have learned a lot throughout this course and I think I have been able to find a good balance between putting my own thoughts and opinions together with others so it is able to flow smoothly. I am now able to pull quotes from a text that make the most sense for my argument that I am trying to make in my paper. Using the knowledge that I have gained in the classroom I think that I have a way better understand on how to select and explain the quotes that I chose to use throughout my paper.
